Microsoft Studios hasn't signed next Alan Wake project, would 'love to work with Remedy again'

Oskari Häkkinen, head of franchise development for Finnish developer Remedy Entertainment, told Joystiq last month that, in fact, a new Alan Wake project was under development. Admittedly, we were getting a little ahead of ourselves when we arrived at E3 this year in full Alan Wake cosplay so the absence of the latest A. Wake project – rumored to be an XBLA title called Alan Wake's Night Springs – hit us pretty hard.

So we tracked down Microsoft Studios chief Phil Spencer to grill him about Remedy's reveal and the dearth of Alan Wake games in Microsoft's E3 lineup. "I read that," Spencer said, laughing about the news. "I don't know that they've signed it with anybody." While Spencer told us that Wake "didn't sell as well as we would have liked," he was clear that it wouldn't affect their working relationship. "I'd love to work with Remedy again," he told us. "We have ongoing conversations with them."

So if Microsoft isn't privy to what Remedy's working on, who is? "I think the stuff they're doing now they wanted to incubate, Mattias and the team," Spencer said. "They wanted to incubate internally. Like I said, I don't think they've signed it with anybody." Well, as long as that's the case, we'll have our Joystiq Publishing representatives get in touch with Remedy and work something out. Our backrub-heavy royalty system is an industry first.

First 2011 VGA premieres: Metal Gear Solid Rising, return of Alan Wake, new BioWare project

As promised, Spike TV has started to pull back the curtain on the 2011 Video Game Awards.

The first reveal may surprise you. It seems that Metal Gear Solid: Rising will be present at the show. This is a bit unusual as new trailers have generally come from western studios.

Other reveals include a new Alan Wake project and an announcement from BioWare:

Die Veröffentlichung über XboxLive ist natürlich neu, aber da es ein vollwertiges Alan Wake wird, kann es sicherlich überzeugen.

Finde es super von MS dass sie die Marke doch nicht haben fallen lassen. Das ist wirklich toll, da es für mich das beste Spiel dieser Generation ist und ich noch nie von einem Game so gefesselt wurde. Pflichtkauf für mich.

Ja, ein neues Alan Wake. Endlich ein nachfolger zu einem der besten titel diese gen. Ich denke, dass auch Night Springs mich wieder begeistern wird. Nach den beiden echt geilen DLCs mache ich mir keine sorgen mehr. ^^ (übrigens ist der 2. Alan Wake DLC der einzige DLC, den ich mir gekauft habe)

btw: Night Springs war doch diese eine TV-serie, die von Alan Wake geschrieben wurde und die man im fernseher sehen konnte oder? Gott war die verstörend.

Ja, ein neues Alan Wake. Endlich ein nachfolger zu einem der besten titel diese gen. Ich denke, dass auch Night Springs mich wieder begeistern wird. Nach den beiden echt geilen DLCs mache ich mir keine sorgen mehr. ^^ (übrigens ist der 2. Alan Wake DLC der einzige DLC, den ich mir gekauft habe)

Ich bin echt gespannt. Die DLCs gehören zu den besten ihrer Art.

Darüber hinaus bin ich froh dass MS scheinbar weiterhin die Marke als Exklusivtitel behalten will. Das ist eine super Tendenz und so wird wohl auch ein Alan Wake 2 recht sicher für die Xbox kommen. Gespannt bin ich nur ob es für die 360 kommt oder eher für den Nachfolger.

Mir wäre eine Retail-Veröffentlichung auch lieber gewesen.

Aber hey! Es ist Remedy. Solange sie keine Mini-Spiel-Sammlung für Kinect veröffentlichen, werde ich die Jungs immer unterstützen.


Und nebenbei bemerkt: Der Xbox Live-Ableger ist ja nicht das einzige Projekt, an dem in Espoo gearbeitet wird... :wink:

Schade, habe mich schon sehr auf ein neues Alan Wake gefreut.
Aber leider nur als Download, da verzichte ich.
